Abstract

The invention provides a virtual machine system used for providing network service. The virtual machine system used for providing the network service comprises a first physical machine and a second physical machine. The first physical machine comprises a first virtual machine and the second physical machine comprises a second virtual machine. The first virtual machine and the second virtual machine both comprise internet protocol (IP) configuration devices, service providing devices and heartbeat detection devices, wherein each IP configuration device is used for setting an external IP address of the virtual machine which the IP configuration device is arranged on, each service providing device is used for providing the network service for external visitors when the virtual machine which the service providing device is arranged on has the external IP address, and the heartbeat detection devices are used for mutual communication to determine whether the virtual machine which has the current external IP address runs abnormally or not. If the virtual machine which has the current external IP address runs abnormally, the IP configuration device of the virtual machine which does not have the external IP address is triggered to operate. Due to the method, the virtual machine system used for providing the network service is capable of achieving the purpose of proving the reliable network service to outside by utilizing the virtual machines.
