Embodiment Construction

[0033] An apparatus (1) for the use of hydrodynamic cavitation in medical treatment, comprising:

[0034] Tanks (2), used as containers for fluids,

[0035] a compressor (3), which is connected to the tank (2) in order to maintain the input pressure of the fluid,

[0036] pipe (4), through which the fluid flows,

[0037] Probe (5), where cavitation occurs,

[0038] a valve (6), which is arranged in the conduit (4), allowing fluid to flow into the probe (5),

[0039] a filter (7), which is arranged in the conduit (4), prevents the flow of particulates of a predetermined size from entering the probe (5),

[0040] fitting (8), which connects the probe (5) to the pipe (4),

[0041] a flow meter (9), which measures the volumetric flow rate of fluid through the probe (5),

[0042] The image capturing unit (10) captures continuous images of the bubble (B) growing and the bubble (B) breaking after the bubble (B) leaves the probe (5),

[0043] positioning assembly (11), which adj...

Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for using the hydrodynamic cavitation in medical treatment such as destroying kidney stones or killing infected cancer cells. This apparatus comprising a tank used as a container for a fluid,a compressor which is connected to the tank in order to maintain the input pressure of the fluid, a tubing in which the fluid flows,a probe in which the cavitation occurs,a valve, which is positioned inside the tubing, allowing the fluid to flow into the probe,a filter, which is positioned inside the tubing, preventing the predetermined size particles flow into the probe,a fitting connecting the probe to the tubing, a flowmeter measuring the volume flow rate of the fluid through the probe,an image capturing unit capturing the sequential images of bubble growing and collapsing of the bubbles after the bubbles exit from the probe,a positioning assembly which adjusts the distance between the probe and the target surface and a control and data acquisition unit.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for utilizing hydrodynamic cavitation in medical applications, such as destroying kidney stones, or killing infected cancer cells. Background technique [0002] Healthcare spending accounts for a remarkably large proportion of the budgets of many countries, and expenditures well in excess of 4% of the gross domestic product of many countries. These huge budgets allocated for healthcare spending should be managed wisely to find solutions to major health-threatening diseases. [0003] Hydrodynamic cavitation is typically initiated with a reduction in local static pressure below a critical value. The effects of hydrodynamic cavitation in various types of turbomachinery have been studied by many researchers in several articles and standardized multiphase textbooks. It is known that every hydraulic device is susceptible to damage caused by cavitation once the proper cavitating flow conditions are observed. In mos...
