Abstract

The invention relates to an instant messaging system and an instant messaging method. The method and the system realize the functions of user registration, user login, friend addition and deletion, friend data examination, message transmission, message mass texting and file transmission. A text messaging main server for managing and maintaining on-line users and realizing text messaging is designed around the basic text interchange function of instant messaging. In order to relieve the load of the server, P2P (Peer-to-Peer) transfer is tried for the transfer of basic text message of a client side by using a UDP (User Datagram Protocol), and an attempt is made to transfer the basic text message from the main server if the P2P transfer fails; and according to the scheme, the processing capacity and the response speed of the server are greatly improved.
