The method includes storing on-screen words selected by a user whenever a callable plug-in component on the input method client side is started; counting frequencies of the stored words; screening the stored words at first preset time intervals according to the counted frequencies of the stored words within the preset time intervals, and updating screened words into a word bank on the input method client side; displaying the updated words in the word bank. The method and the equipment have the advantages that the user can input expected words without frequently starting the plug-in component or starting a plurality of different plug-in components, and accordingly the input efficiency and the user experience are improved.
