Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods for remote monitoring of drilling equipment and in particular discloses systems and methods for capturing information related to the performance of mining machines and making this information available to remote maintenance personnel. This information can be used to generate alerts, determine machine status, determine performance statistics for the machine, and identify issues with the machine that may require attention. This information can be provided in status messages, and the data can be packaged as XML data or in string format. The data associated with the message may be specific to the current state or environment of the mining machine. That is, in the case of a rope excavator, different data may be included in the message generated in the swing state and in the message generated in the stowed state. In some cases, the message is generated when a progress threshold is met, such as a progress threshold for each foot of drilling performed by the mining rig.
