The method includes the first step of obtaining a character image, wherein the character image includes a background and at least one character row different from the background, and the character row comprises a plurality of characters which are arrayed in the row direction, the second step of obtaining first coordinates, the third step of setting a detection line extending in the row direction at the first coordinates and horizontally moving the detection line in the column direction to determine the column edge of the character row, the fourth step of segmenting out a row region including target character rows from the character image according to the column edge of the character row, the fifth step of determining the gap between row edges of the characters in the target character rows in the row direction, and the sixth step of segmenting the row region into a plurality of regions according to the gap between the row edges, wherein each region includes at least one character.
