Abstract

The invention discloses a system and a method of using traffic conflicts for judging accident-prone sections. Using the system and the method can not only judge whether a certain section is an accident-prone section or not but also give out accident-prone time periods and prone accident types to provide specific data support for subsequent warning and management works. Owing to supermatic judgment means, the defect of incompleteness of an existing traffic accident database is overcome, the system and the method are more accurate and scientific as compared with previous manual observation of conflicts, and application of traffic conflict techniques to engineering can be effectively promoted. By adopting traffic flow parameter detection equipment to acquire continuous 24-hour traffic flow information as auxiliary and by using a stratified sampling investigation method to provide the basis for selection of traffic conflict investigation time periods, precision in determination of traffic conflict amount can be improved, and the system and the method are also applicable to nighttime traffic conflict investigation and have practical engineering application value in the aspect of providing the basis for selection of traffic conflict investigation time periods.
