Abstract

The invention relates to a method for economically and quickly breaking dormancy of sand rice seeds and accelerating sand rice seeds to germinate. The method comprises the following steps: (1) collecting and washing seeds, namely removing impurities of the collected sand rice seeds for later use; (2) preparing ethephon solution, namely preparing sufficient ethephon solution with the concentration being 100-500 micromol / L; (3) processing the seeds, namely placing the sand rice seeds on a seed bed evenly and adding 6-10ml of the ethephon solution prepared in the step (2); (4) carrying out germinating experiment, namely placing the seed bed placed in the step (3) in a temperature-varying culture box for carrying out the germinating experiment; (5) counting a result, namely, daily counting the number of the germinated seeds, adding a right amount of distilled water into the seed bed till the germinating is ended. The method is capable of quickly and efficiently breaking the dormancy of sand rice seeds, causing the seeds to germinate uniformly, greatly saving time for breeding seedlings of the sand rice and providing reference methods for detecting the sand rice seeds; meanwhile, the method is low in cost.
