Abstract

A battery management system is disclosed that includes a sensing unit and a main controller unit (MCU). In one aspect, the sensing unit is configured to measure a current value and a voltage value of the battery under a discharge condition of the battery. Additionally, the MCU is configured to receive the current value and the voltage value and is also configured to manage the capacity of the battery based at least in part on the current value and the voltage value. In addition, the MCU includes an unusable capacity calculation unit configured to calculate an unusable capacity corresponding to a portion of the battery's theoretical maximum capacity that is unusable under the discharge condition, wherein the unusable capacity is based at least in part on the current value and at The internal resistance value of the battery under the discharge condition is calculated.
