Abstract

An electrical connector (306) includes a connector body (360) having a mounting side (362) and an array of signal contacts (368) disposed along the mounting side. A ground matrix (310) extends along this mounting side. The ground matrix includes a plurality of ground contacts (341, 342) interconnected in a mesh fashion to define a plurality of openings (350). The signal contact of the electrical connector extends through the opening, and the ground contact is electrically coupled to the electrical connector. The ground matrix includes attachment features (352) that directly engage and couple to the electrical connectors to maintain the ground matrix in a designated location along the mounting side.
