The invention relates to a visual characterization technology for distribution of organic components of a direct coal liquefaction residue sample, in particular to a CT (Computed Tomography) characterization method for the direct coal liquefaction residue sample. The CT characterization method for the direct coal liquefaction residue sample comprises the following steps: step 1, sampling and pretesting the direct coal liquefaction residue sample; step 2, carrying out analysis on an X-ray absorption characteristics of all ash ingredients of a second direct coal liquefaction residue sample; step 3, grouping components of the second direct coal liquefaction residue sample; step 4, carrying out the CT experiment on the second direct coal liquefaction residue sample; step 5, establishing a physical model and distinguishing and identifying different components in a CT slice; step 6, removing inorganic components, further distinguishing organic components and realizing visual characterization of the distribution form of the organic components of the direct coal liquefaction residue sample by utilizing the principle that different colors show the distribution of different organic components in the model. The physical model adopted by the CT characterization method can greatly improve calculating efficiency and the CT characterization method can be used for characterization of a great number of samples.
