Embodiment Construction

[0059] Referring to the drawings, wherein like numerals refer to like features, a non-limiting example of a system for cooling and filtering a process gas according to the present invention is generally indicated by the reference numeral 10 .

[0060] figure 1 A system 10 according to the invention for cooling and filtering process gases, mainly carbon monoxide gas, produced during ferroalloy smelting is shown in FIG. The system 10 includes a dry filtration unit for removing generally solid contaminants from the process gas. This filtering device is indicated generally by reference numeral 20 . The term dry filtration is used to describe a filtration process that removes solids from a process gas without using liquid in the filter chamber.

[0061] The filter device 20 comprises a filter chamber 22 in which at least one filter element 24 is placed. The number of filter elements 24 installed in the filter chamber 22 depends on the volume of process gas to be cleaned. It is ...

Abstract

The present invention provides a system (10, 100) for cooling and dry filtering process gases generated during ferroalloy smelting. The system (10, 100) comprises a device (20) for dry filtering the process gas, the device comprising a filter chamber (22) having a filter element (24). Through an inlet in a supply line (26), the process gas is fed into the filter chamber and directed to the filter element (24). The filtered process gas is discharged through the discharge line (28) after being filtered by the filter element (24). The device (20) further comprises a cleaning gas inlet (32) for feeding cleaning gas into the filter chamber (22) for removing solids trapped in the filter element (24). The withdrawn solids are collected in a discharge chamber (34) located below said filter chamber (22) before being conveyed to a collecting hopper (38) located below said discharge chamber (34). The equalization conduit (46) arranged between the filter chamber (22) and the collection hopper (38) is used to control the pressure difference between the filter chamber (22) and the collection hopper (38), so as to The discharge of the solids is controlled.

Description

technical field [0001] An embodiment of the present invention relates to a system for dry filtering process gas. The present invention relates in particular but not exclusively to a system for cooling and dry filtering process gases produced during ferroalloy smelting. Background technique [0002] In metal smelting processes, such as ferroalloy smelting processes, the resulting process gases are usually flared, ie burnt off safely, or processed further, for example as a heating medium or used in power generation systems. During ferroalloy smelting, the process gas is predominantly carbon monoxide gas and contains some solids which must be removed from the gas before it can be used for further processing applications. In some applications, it is also necessary to cool down the process gas before it is available. [0003] A known method of purifying process gases is the use of wet scrubbers such as venturi scrubbers or pulverizers, wherein the gas stream is decomposed by co...
