The valve train has a basic camshaft on which the cam carrier is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner but axially displaceable. For the axial displacement of the switching guide 2 assigned to the cam carrier, the switching guide has two gates 3 and 4 in the exemplary embodiment shown here. The displacement takes place by means of an actuator 5 with a lever 6 which can enter into one of the slots 3 and 4 . Depending on which link 3 or 4 the lever 6 enters, the switching guide 2 and thus the cam carrier are moved in one or the other direction.
