[0020] The following examples relate to providing a Passive Ethernet Optical Network over Coax (EPOC) network comprising communications between optical network equipment of the EPON and coaxial cable network equipment of the coaxial cable network. The term "coaxial" herein refers to a coaxial cable. EPOC enables established end users connected to coaxial cable networks to connect to EPON and take advantage of the high speed communications associated with EPON.
