Abstract

The invention discloses an elliptical monopole antenna, and relates to a cylinder conformal antenna having ultra wide band characteristics. The cylinder conformal antenna having the ultra wide band characteristics consists of an elliptical radiating element having an opening in the middle and grooves on bilateral sides, a double-trapezoid combined coplanar waveguide, and a ground plate having gradually changed edges. The monopole is an ellipse having an axial ratio equal to 1.3. A bandwidth matching is achieved by opening a round hole in the middle of an elliptical patch. An omni-directional property of the antenna is achieved by respectively opening an elliptical slot on bilateral sides of the elliptical patch. The double-trapezoid combined coplanar waveguide is utilized for feeding power and regulating input impedances of the antenna. The ground plate having the gradually changed edges is utilized for achieving an ultra wide band impedance bandwidth and an excellent omni-directional radiation. The antenna is convenient to be integrated by being conformal to the cylinder. Provided with the ultra wide band property and an effective working bandwidth of 2.2-14.1GHz, the antenna is low in profile, small in size, simple in structure, convenient in machining, easy to be conformal to carriers, stable in radiation characteristics, and applicable to short distance ultra wide band communication.
