Abstract

The invention relates to a video transmission method and device. The video transmission method comprises the following steps that: a receiving end sends information of actual video transmission situation to a sending end; the sending end judges video transmission situation according to the information of the actual video transmission situation, if the video transmission situation is excellent, original video streams are transmitted, if the video transmission situation is poor, dynamic code rate adjustment is performed on the original video streams so as to decrease the code rate of the original video streams; and the sending end packages the video streams of which the code rate has been decreased into standard video data packets, and transmits the standard video data packets to a client end. Correspondingly, the invention also provides a video transmission device. With the video transmission method provided by the invention adopted, the actual video transmission situation of the videos can be monitored, and when the video transmission situation is poor, the code rate of the original video streams is decreased, and therefore, the video streams can be transmitted smoothly when network conditions are poor.
