Embodiment Construction

[0013] figure 1 One example of an overall system 100 in accordance with the disclosed subject matter is shown. NET 110 is offered at figure 1 Data communication services between the components shown in . With multiple networking technologies, including but not limited to Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, and cellular data networking technologies, one skilled in the art can reliably and predictably integrate these technologies for exchanging data between the components shown. In one embodiment, a separate network may be used. For example, cameras 120 and 125 and server 140 may communicate over a first network while other components communicate over a public network. By using a separate first network, those skilled in the art can achieve the desired goals of reliability and security.

[0014] Identification camera 120 illustrates one of many such cameras included within system 100 . For the convenience of discussion, in figure 1 Only a single recognition camera 120 is shown in . ...

Abstract

A method of tracking using a single multi-vehicle object location and at least one restricted location within the single multi-vehicle object location is disclosed. First, multiple vehicle images captured by multiple cameras are received. A time is then determined when the first vehicle begins and finishes using the single multi-vehicle destination location. Finally, it is determined that the second vehicle is parked at the at least one restricted location within the single multi-vehicle target location.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the use of cameras to identify vehicles and to track and control the vehicles' use of parking spaces. Background technique [0002] Various municipal and private car park operators have extensive conventional parking management systems for managing the use of target locations for vehicles (eg, parking spaces for wheeled motor vehicles) and for obtaining revenue from this use. Upgrading such legacy systems to full automation typically requires extensive rework and expense, resulting in a large upfront capital investment, making such upgrades impossible for many parking lot operators. [0003] There is a need for a fully automated and autonomous parking management system that easily integrates with existing parking payment systems, including systems that have been installed and operating for some time. In doing so, it opens up new previously untapped revenue opportunities and efficiencies for parking facility operators. Conten...
