A dust filtering unit mountable at a mining machine (100) having an exhaust unit (114) to drive an airflow stream through a filter duct (113). The filter unit also includes a silencer (206) positioned at an outlet region (508) of the exhaust unit (114) and configured to suppress noise emission from the exhaust unit.
