The present invention relates to fluid filters and methods for making fluid filters. A fluid filter (10), especially for fuel (12) or oil, comprises a filter housing (14) with a base portion (16) and a top portion (18) along its side walls (26, 28) The butt edges (30) are non-releasably connected to each other. The base part (16) is provided with interfaces for introducing and exporting fluid. Inserted in the filter housing (14) is a filter element (36) having a filter medium (42) disposed between a first end disc (38) proximate to the interface and a second end disc (40) remote from the interface. The fluid to be filtered can flow through the filter medium in a direction radial to the longitudinal axis ( 20 ) of the fluid filter ( 10 ). According to the invention, the second end plate (40) of the filter element (36) is connected to the filter housing (14) with its free edge section (62) in the region of the abutment edge (30) of the base part and the cover part.
