Abstract

Embodiments of the invention disclose a method and a system for a terminal to access a network, and relate to the technical field of communication. The problem that network failure and loss to network service may be caused easily in the equipment upgrading and rebuilding process of the existing network can be solved. A double-stack BRAS and a double-stack CR are added to the system of the invention. When receiving an access request sent by a double-stack terminal, a single-stack BRAS determines a double-stack access strategy corresponding to the double-stack terminal, acquires address information of an IPv4 and an IPv6 assigned by the double-stack BRAS to the double-stack terminal through a L2TP tunnel according to the double-stack access strategy, and sends the address information to the double-stack terminal; when receiving a network access request sent by the double-stack terminal, the single-stack BRAS sends the network access request to the double-stack BRAS through the L2TP tunnel; and the double-stack BRAS sends the network access request to the double-stack CR. The method and the system of the invention are applicable to a scenario in which a double-stack terminal accesses a network.
