Sensor assembly capable of obtaining and providing a measurement of a physical quantity, e.g., measurement of temperature and/or pressure of a vehicular tire, includes an antenna capable of receiving a radio frequency signal, a radio frequency identification (RFID) device coupled to the antenna, a sensor coupled to the RFID device arranged to generate a measurement of the physical quantity or quantities, and a switch coupled to the RFID device and arranged to connect or disconnect the sensor from a circuit with the antenna dependent on whether the antenna receives a particular signal associated with the RFID device. When the antenna receives the particular signal associated with the RFID device, the RFID device causes the switch to close and connect the sensor in the circuit with the antenna to enable the measurement generated by the sensor to be directed to and transmitted by the antenna.

Method and system for diagnosing whether vehicular components are operating abnormally based on data obtained from sensors arranged on a vehicle. In a training stage, output from the sensors during normal operation of the components is obtained, each component is adjusted to induce abnormal operation thereof and output from the sensors is obtained during the induced abnormal operation. A determination is made as to which sensors provide data about abnormal operation of each component based on analysis of the output from the sensors during normal operation and during induced abnormal operation of the components. During operation of the vehicle, the output from the sensors is obtained and analyzed, e.g., by inputting it into a pattern recognition algorithm or neural network generated during the training stage, in order to output an indication of abnormal operation of any components being diagnosed.

A wireless local area network (WLAN) system comprises multiple access points that are distributed throughout a medical facility to provide wireless access to a hardwired network. The access points implement multiple WLAN protocols, including a realtime protocol for realtime patient monitoring (telemetry) and a standard WLAN protocol (such as IEEE 802.11 within an ISM band) for providing general-purpose wireless access. Some or all of the access points preferably implement both WLAN protocols such that the different WLANs and wireless device types share network access resources. The present invention relates to a medical device and method for treating the body tissue of a patient. The present invention is also directed to a method of making the medical device and a method of using the medical device. More particularly, the invention relates to a medical device which is inserted into the body for delivery of therapeutic patches to the surface of a body lumen, organ or cavity. Specifically, the medical device has an umbrella-like or a basket-like expandable assembly; and a therapeutic patch. The expandable assembly is capable of changing from a retracted position to an expanded position. The expandable assembly can be self-expanding or non-self-expanding. In one embodiment, the medical device comprises an elongated member; an umbrella-like expandable assembly which has a plurality of wire elements; and a therapeutic patch. The therapeutic patch comprises a sheet having two opposing surfaces wherein one of the surface comprises an adhesive material and at least one biologically active material. The other opposing surface is disposed onto the plurality of wire elements of the umbrella-like expandable assembly. In another embodiment, the medical device comprises an elongated member, a basket-like expandable assembly having a plurality of wire elements; and a therapeutic patch. The therapeutic patch is disposed onto the plurality of wire elements of the basket-like expandable assembly.

A method and apparatus for improving the reception of digitally modulated signals. A main signal and a supplemental signal are provided in the transmitter. The signals may be substantially identical except that the supplemental signal is advanced in time with respect to the main signal. The main and supplemental signals are sent from the transmitter to the receiver modulated on a signal. At the receiver, the supplemental signal is stored in a buffer. If the main signal is undesirably changed during transmission, corresponding portions of the supplement signal are substituted for the undesired portions of the main signal.

A method for identifying available parking spaces. The method includes receiving data about a parking space from a vehicle, the data including a geographic indicator associated with the parking space. The data is stored in a database of available parking spaces. A geographic location is received from a parking space requestor. The database is searched for an available parking space within a proximity of the geographic location. If an available parking space within a proximity of the geographic location is located in the database, a geographic indicator associated with the available parking space is transmitted to the parking space requester.

The present invention is directed to the selective provision of interference canceled signal streams to demodulating fingers in a communication receiver. According to the present invention, potential interferer signal paths are identified. Signal streams having one or more potential interferer signals removed or canceled are created, and a correlation is performed to determine whether the strength of a desired signal path increased as a result. If the correlation indicates that the strength of a desired signal path was increased by the signal cancellation, the interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger assigned to track the desired signal path. If the correlation determines that the strength of the desired signal path did not increase as a result of performing interference cancellation, the raw or a different interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger.

A system and device is disclosed that employs a global interactive program guide to receive, access, manage, and view digital entertainment services such as live television, television on demand, and pre-recorded video and audio programming from one on more content sources, via an internet-enabled device, anywhere in the world. Techniques for location-assisted wireless communication use real-time location(s) of wireless transceiver(s) together with stored location-indexed channel information to improve communication over a wireless channel between the transceiver(s). The stored channel information includes channel characteristics (e.g., average power, angle-of-arrival, and time delay of multipath components) that are substantially constant in time but vary gradually as a function of location. Current transceiver location(s) are obtained and used to retrieve stored channel characteristics corresponding to the location(s). The present invention teaches a method for generating geographical location based on addresses where the address is divided to prefix and suffix. The suffix portion is administrated locally. In addition to the geographical location information the locally administrated portion can consist other information such as a device number. The geographical location information assigned to the suffix can be two or three dimensional.

A data processing apparatus maps input symbols to be communicated onto a predetermined number of carrier signals of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbol. One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates issuing rights in a digital rights management system. The system operates by sending a request to perform an operation on an item of content from a client to a rights-management server, wherein the request includes a usage parameter which specifies constraints involved in performing the operation. Next, the system receives a response from the rights-management server, wherein the response indicates whether or not the client has rights to perform the operation in accordance with the constraints specified by the usage parameter. Note that the response may also include a hint that facilitates generating subsequent requests to perform the operation. Finally, if the client has rights to perform the operation, the system performs the operation on the item of content.
