Systems and methods for automated control of welding systems including wire drawing welding torches

A welding system and wire drawing gun technology, which is applied to automatically detect the connection of the wire drawing gun to the welding system to drive the welding process. The existence of the wire drawing gun in the welding system can solve the problem that the wire feeder cannot transfer the welding wire.

[0018] The present invention includes a system and method for automatically detecting a wire drawing gun connected to a welding system and using the automatic detection to control the operation of the welding system. see figure 1 , the welding system 10 includes a wire feeder 12 connected to a power source 14 by two power input cables 16 , 18 and to a gas source 20 by a gas cable 22 . In an illustrative, non-limiting example, the wire feeder 12 may be portable. Additionally, although shown as separate, the wire feeder 12 and power supply 14 may be integrated into a common housing.

A system (10) and method for automatic detection of the connection of a wire drawing welding torch (24) to a welding system (10) is disclosed.
