Abstract

The present invention relates to air boxes with integral filter media. Apparatus and methods are provided for an airbox having an integral air filter for delivering airflow from an exterior of the air filter to an air intake of an automotive engine. The air filter includes filter material surrounding at least a portion of the lumen of the air filter. An end cap is attached to the distal end of the filter material, and the wire support extends along at least a portion of the outer surface of the filter material. The air box includes a housing portion and a mounting portion. The housing part is configured to direct air drawn in through the filter material into the interior cavity of the air filter and then into the air intake of the vehicle engine. The mounting portion is configured to support the air box and air filter once installed in the engine compartment of the vehicle.
