Abstract

A device for measuring filter cake overfilling of a filter element (2, 2') in a filter housing (1, 1'), wherein a sensor (8, 8') is arranged to measure the filter housing ( 1, 1'). The method according to the invention does not involve an additionally provided mechanical measuring system. It directly measures the deformation of the filter element (2, 2'), which is caused by overfilling. Therefore, the measurement results are not affected by the discharged filter cake. Furthermore, the measurement is not only performed at specific points, but also over the entire component group. This allows measurement and thus monitoring of the entire filter, which better demonstrates the fill status of the filter. In the device for carrying out the method, the sensor (8, 8') is arranged via the filter element (2, 2') on the closed end of the filtrate collection tube (3, 3'). In order to separate solid matter from liquid matter, the load of solid matter is monitored by detecting the movement of the filtrate collection pipe (3, 3') with the aid of sensors (8, 8').
