The present invention provides a knowledge map generating method and apparatus. The method comprises: firstly, acquiring a keyword of each piece of hot knowledge of a same category; next, computing an association relationship of each keyword; acquiring, based on the association relationship of each keyword, the keyword as a central node of a knowledge map and a hierarchical relationship of various nodes in the knowledge map; and further, based on the central node and according to the hierarchical relationship of the various nodes in the knowledge map, generating the knowledge map. The association relationship is used for indicating that there is a specified relationship between the keywords of the same category, and further indicates that there is a specified relationship between different hot knowledge. In other words, the knowledge map is acquired based on the specified relationship between different hot knowledge. Compared with a knowledge map acquired by any two vocabularies that may comprise a meaningless word and a word that does not meet requirement of grammar, the knowledge map generating method and apparatus provided by the present invention are improved in accuracy; and there is no need for computing a co-occurrence degree of any two keywords, thereby reducing the computational complexity.
