The vehicle system calculates an estimate of the road grade and an estimate of the vehicle mass. These estimates are used to derive torque offset values that are added to other required torque loads to calculate feedforward torque. Feedforward torque is combined with feedback torque or torque adjustments to compensate for gradient or mass changes during vehicle creep conditions.
