Abstract

The invention provides a method and device for building a POI dictionary. The method comprises the following steps: carrying out word segmentation on POI names in a POI name set, and clustering the POI names, the participle matching degrees of which accord with thresholds, on appointed positions after the word segmentation; determining the longest and/or shortest character lengths of the POI names in the clusters; generating POI data entries of the clusters on the basis of the participles, on the appointed positions, of the POI names in the clusters and the longest and/or shortest character lengths of the PO names in the clusters; and building the POI dictionary according to the POI data entries of the clusters. The participles, on the appointed positions, of the POI names are smaller than the POI names in the aspect of data volume, so that the POI dictionary built in the invention is smaller than the dictionary built through the POI names in the prior art in the aspect of data volume; and when the POI dictionary is loaded to a memory, fewer memory resources are consumed.
