Abstract

A fingerprint recognition device comprises a capacitive touch control element, a fingerprint recognition element and a controller, wherein the capacitive touch control element is used for continuously detecting whether a touch control object touches the fingerprint recognition device; the fingerprint recognition element is used for carrying out fingerprint recognition; and the controller is connected with the fingerprint recognition element and the capacitive touch control element. When the capacitive touch control element detects a touch control object touches the fingerprint recognition device, the controller controls the capacitive touch control element to stop working and controls the fingerprint recognition element to start working. In the case of touch control operation, the fingerprint recognition element starts working, the capacitive touch control element stops working, the power consumption of the capacitive touch control element is smaller than that of the fingerprint recognition element, and thus, the power consumption of an electronic device is saved. The invention also provides a fingerprint recognition method.
