A temperature-based transformer fault diagnosis method is characterized in that the method monitors the temperature of a transformer, the temperatures of two connectors of a secondary side wire of the transformer and the temperatures of three buses of different transformer inlet wires; temperature data are analyzed to obtain different features of the temperature data; the temperature data of the three buses are used as comparative temperature features for determining the running load; the temperature influence factors of a current power system running load that affect running of the transformer are eliminated; and a fault of the transformer is determined on the basis of the different features of the above temperature data obtained through analysis. The method can have accurate diagnosis effects on insulation faults, connector loosening faults and internal faults of the transformer. The method can diagnose and find the fault of the transformer as early as possible and ensures normal running of the transformer.
