The method comprises following steps: a cross-device link aggregation group is formed by aggregating N links which are connected with a first network device and multiple second network devices; N detection messages are sent to the multiple second network devices through the N links so that the multiple second network devices send first messages to the first network device through the N links and the first network device receives the N first messages sent by the multiple second network devices, wherein each of the first messages comprises MAC address and interface information of the second network device sending the first message; a single device link aggregation group is formed by aggregating links between the first network device and the second network devices according to the second network device MAC address and interface information of each of the first messages. By means of one embodiment of the invention, direct links between network devices and interface occupation can be reduced and traffic load balancing among multiple network devices can be effectively realized.
