Abstract

The present invention relates to a distance control system (7) for automatically adjusting a distance (Ds) between a motor vehicle (4) and a motor vehicle (6) traveling ahead of the vehicle (4). The distance control system (7) has at least one sensor (10) for detecting the distance (D) with respect to the vehicle (6) traveling ahead. A route detecting device (18) for detecting a front road (8) is also arranged. The distance control system (7) also has a control device (12) for transmitting an acceleration command to a driver (17) of the motor vehicle (4) to perform acceleration at a preset accelerated speed (A1) when the distance (D) with respect to the preceding vehicle (6) is increased or in free straight driving; and determining an expected lateral accelerated speed (Aq) and adjusts the longitudinal accelerated speed (Al) according to the expected lateral accelerated speed (Aq) when the route detecting device (18) recognizes a front curve.
