Embodiment Construction

[0058] The exemplary embodiments of the present technology will be best understood with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which similar parts are denoted by similar numbers everywhere. It should be understood that, as generally described and shown in the drawings herein, the components of the technology can be arranged and designed in many different configurations. Therefore, the following more detailed descriptions of embodiments of devices, systems, and methods are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention as proposed, but are merely representative examples of exemplary embodiments of the technology.

[0059] The phrases "connected to", "coupled to" and "connected" refer to any form of interaction between two or more entities, including mechanical, electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic, fluid, and thermal interactions. Two members can be functionally coupled to each other even when they are not in direct contact with each other. The term "butt against" ...

Abstract

Arthroplasty components include an articular surface and a bone-facing surface. The bone-facing surface bears at least one anchoring element adapted for an oblique implantation trajectory. The articular surface includes a larger radius of curvature in the superior-inferior direction than in the anterior-posterior direction. An inferior chamfer may be present on the articular surface. Instruments and implantation methods are also disclosed. Reamers include reamer heads coupled to various offset shaft configurations.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to anchoring elements and joint surfaces for human or veterinary implants. The disclosed anchoring element is used in situations where it is difficult to expose, the implant trajectory is inclined to the implant site, or the plant site is tapered, conical or wedge-shaped. For example, the disclosed anchoring element is used in the context of a socket implant for shoulder arthroplasty, so that the preparation of the socket and the implantation of the socket component occur along an inclined surgical approach and implant trajectory. The oblique or anterior-lateral access to the socket is technically simpler and less traumatic than the lateral trajectory to the socket. The present disclosure is made in the context of the glenoid component of shoulder plasty for the purpose of illustrating the relevant principles of the technique. Background technique [0002] In total shoulder arthroplasty, a socket implant is attached to the p...
