Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a secondary battery having improved safety. The method for manufacturing a secondary battery comprises the steps of: inserting an electrode assembly including first and second electrode tabs into an accommodation portion of a case; injecting an electrolyte into the accommodation portion of the case in which the electrode assembly has been accommodated, and sealing a sealing part through thermal bonding; and welding the first and second electrode tabs and a protective circuit module together. The welding is performed using a jig at the welding step, and a welding member is provided in an area where the jig and the first and second electrode tabs come into contact with one another. Using the method for manufacturing a secondary battery, risks of a current leakage and a short circuit which may occur during welding can be preemptively prevented, and thus safety of a battery can be improved.
