Abstract

The invention provides an LCD and a driving method thereof. In the LCD, a liquid crystal panel is divided into rectangular panel zones; according to the rectangular panel zones as well as data driving voltages which need to be input to liquid crystal molecules in the rectangular panel zones, a central computing module calculates deflection time of the liquid crystal molecules in the rectangular panel zones as well as the backlight brightness needed by the rectangular panel zones; according to the deflection time of the liquid crystal molecules in the rectangular panel zones, a gain adjusting module increases or decreases the data driving voltages that are input to the rectangular panel zones, so that deflection of the liquid crystal molecules in the rectangular panel zones are completed simultaneously; and a backlight module is divided into multiple rectangular backlight zones, and according to the backlight brightness needed by the rectangular panel zones a backlight driving module drives the corresponding rectangular backlight zones to emit light simultaneously. According to the invention, deflection of the liquid crystal molecules in the rectangular panel zones are completed simultaneously, gray scale brightness is emitted at the same time, and thus, a flickering phenomenon is avoided.
