Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a message forwarding method and a message forwarding device, applied to switching equipment supporting E-Tree. The method comprises the steps of receiving a virtual extensible local area network (VXLAN) message, wherein the VXLAN message carries character information of a source attachment circuit (AC); and determining the character information of the target AC of the VXLAN message to be a root node; or determining the character information of the source AC to be the root node, and sending the VXLAN message to the target AC. Namely the VXLAN message received by the switching equipment carries the character information of the source AC, and in addition, the character information (including the character information of the target AC) of the AC connected with the switching equipment is stored in the switching equipment; only in the case that the character information of the source AC is determined to be the root node, or the character information of the target AC is determined to be the root node, the switching equipment sends the VXLAN message to the target AC; communication between leaf nodes is limited; and furthermore, configuration of an access control list (ACL) is not needed, thus being simple in operation.
