Abstract

A headlamp module sliding plane bracket is disclosed. A sliding planar bracket for a front terminal assembly of a vehicle and a method of assembling the front end of the vehicle are disclosed. Sliding flat brackets attach the headlight module to the bolster at the front end of the vehicle to facilitate adjustment of the headlight module's position relative to the front fascia, headlights and grille. The headlamp modules are mounted to the bolster with sliding planar bracket interfaces adjustable in the X (longitudinal) and Y (transverse) directions for improved fit relative to adjacent modules. According to this method, a pair of headlamp modules are attached to the bolster using adjustable fasteners to set the height of the headlamp modules. The sliding plane bracket is fitted to the lug provided on the headlamp module, and the position of the sliding plane bracket in the longitudinal plane and the transverse plane can be adjusted.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a sliding planar bracket for fitting a headlamp module to a front end bolster fitted as a subassembly to a vehicle. Background technique [0002] Vehicle manufacturers strive to improve the quality of vehicles by reducing tolerances and improving fit and finish. Assembly of the front end of a vehicle involves fitting together multiple components such as the front fascia, headlights, grille, etc. Parts are manufactured within tolerances, but assembling multiple parts together is subject to tolerance stack-up, which can result in an unsatisfactory fit and finish. [0003] Repair operations that repair vehicle front-end damage can also be adversely affected if sheet metal replacement parts are not manufactured to precise tolerances. Variations in component size and shape can affect the final appearance of the repaired vehicle. [0004] The present disclosure addresses the above-mentioned problems and others outlined be...
