A tool (1) is disclosed for installing a roller tappet (20) in a bore (130a) of the cylinder head (130) of an internal combustion engine (110). The tool includes an elongated body (2) and a connection head (3) arranged at one end of the elongated body (2) and configured to be at least in part inserted into an opening (20a) of the roller tappet (20).
