Embodiment Construction

[0046] Throughout the drawings, the same reference numerals are used for similar or corresponding elements.

[0047] This embodiment relates generally to synchronization of video streams, and in particular to synchronization of video streams originating from multiple user devices recording a scene.

[0048] Thus, these embodiments enable video frame synchronization for video streaming to multiple user devices, for example in connection with social events such as games or concerts. As a result of video stream synchronization, video guidance and rich content assertions can be made by providing video of events from different angles corresponding to the user's position relative to the recorded scene.

[0049] Hereinafter, a video frame is used to denote a picture or image of a video stream. Thus, video frames may alternatively be denoted in the art as (video) pictures or (video) images. As known in the field of video coding, video frames are coded according to a video coding sta...

Abstract

A system clock reference is transmitted to user devices (1, 2, 3) over a short range communication channel (40) and used to calculated a clock offset. The clock offset is stored together with a user identifier in a server memory (15), from which the clock offset can be retrieved when receiving the user identifier together with a video stream (21, 22, 23) of video frames (31, 32, 33) tagged with respective timestamps. The timestamps are converted into capture times according to a system clock (17) using the retrieved clock offsets. Video streams (21, 22, 23) from multiple user devices (1, 2, 3) thereby have video frames timestamped using a same clock reference and can be time aligned.

Description

technical field [0001] This embodiment relates generally to synchronization of video streams, and in particular to synchronization of video streams originating from multiple user devices recording a scene. Background technique [0002] Advances in high-speed mobile internet and the capabilities of user devices such as cell phones, smartphones and tablets have led to new ways of consuming mobile live video streaming services. There is also a strong need for users to film social events, such as football games or music festivals, to present their own version of the story. Emerging applications allow users to collaboratively use multiple mobile cameras to produce video in a manner similar to producing professional live TV. Such as figure 1 As shown, the scenario includes three user roles, namely, Producer, Director and Consumer. A producer is a user with user equipment 1 , 2 , 3 who collaboratively records and streams a video feed, eg in a stadium, to an application server or...
