Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for enhancing telematics security through a secondary channel. The system includes a processor configured to wirelessly receive vehicle system commands from a remote source over a first communication channel. The processor is further configured to, in response to receiving the vehicle system command, open a second communication channel with the source that appears to have originated the command. The processor is further configured to: request via the second communication channel that the vehicle system command originate from a source that appears to have originated the command; and execute the vehicle system command in response to the verification of the origin of the command.
