Abstract

The invention relates to a system and a method for selecting a gateway general packet radio service (GPRS) supported node. At one aspect, the invention provides the method for selecting the gateway GPRS supported node (GGSN). The method comprises the steps of acquiring a network address for a home agent; transmitting a request for a name which is associated with the network address to a name server; in response to the request, receiving the name which is associated with the network address from the name server; initiating a GPRS attached connection; and after the GPRS attached connection is initialized, initiating PDP context activation, wherein the step of initiating the PDP context activation comprises transmitting a name to an SGSN, and configuring the SGSN for searching the IP address of the GGSN by means of the name.
