The invention discloses a load identification method and a load identification device of a nonlinear mechanical structure based on state space model. The method comprises the steps that a measurable exciting force is utilized to conduct vibration testing on the nonlinear mechanical structure, and a first vibration response signal at a nonlinear position of the nonlinear mechanical structure is measured; according to the nonlinear category of the nonlinear mechanical structure, a corresponding nonlinear description function is calculated by combining the first vibration response signal; based on the state space model of the nonlinear mechanical structure, a load identification control equation of the nonlinear mechanical structure is obtained, and a subspace method is utilized to calculate a transfer matrix for load identification of the nonlinear mechanical structure; a second vibration response signal of the nonlinear mechanical structure under the dynamic load effect is measured, and a Tikhonov regularization method is utilized to solve a load identification control equation, and load identification of the nonlinear mechanical structure is achieved.
