Embodiment Construction

[0024] In the local area network topology management system and method disclosed in the specification of the present invention, the network topology established by the local area network topology management system can operate on the second layer (L2) agreement (IEEE1905.1) or third layer (Level 3) of the network protocol Protocol (socket interface) framework.

[0025] One of the embodiments is to confirm that there is an access point that executes the service of distributing network address (such as IP address) or network identification information after a plurality of access points in the local area network exchange packets with each other, and distributes network address services such as DHCP (Dynamic Host Set protocol) service, this access point can be set as the master access point (Master AP) for other access points in the management network domain.

[0026] Under this architecture, when the topology in the local area network changes, the mechanism for automatically deter...

Abstract

The disclosure is related to a system and a method for topology management in a local area network. In the method, a plurality of access points within a local area network communicate with each other using exchanged packets. A management protocol is employed by the access points to confirm one of them being designated as a master access point, which is in charge of allocating IP addresses to the devices joining this LAN. The access points can acquire the IP address of the master access point via the management protocol. The master AP can collect operation information from every access point via the same protocol. Under this management mechanism, the access points within the LAN can re-confirm the master access point by the management protocol when the topology of the LAN is changed, and again the master access point can re-collect operation information of the other access points.

Description

technical field [0001] A network management system and method, in particular to a topology management system and method applied in a local area network to perform management through a main access point. Background technique [0002] A traditional wireless local area network (WLAN) should have at least one wireless access point (Access Point, AP), which provides various networking devices in the local area network to connect to another node or network domain through this access point. , and this wireless access point acts as a router and a gateway, and is set at an important gateway connecting to the external network. [0003] If a local area network needs to cover a larger area or serve more terminal device connection services, more access points may be required to cover a larger area or serve more terminal connection requirements. However, the traditional wireless local area network lacks effective expansion and management measures. The reason is that when there is a need ...
