AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

This new technology allows for better monitoring and analysis of computer systems' behavior by analyzing their data stored across multiple disks instead of just one single disk. It does this through an LFSR (Linear Feedback Shift Register) instrument called Disc Performance Tester or Distributed System Interface). Unlike previous methods like postmark, Interactive Load Indexers (ILS), and Boniex processors, these tests allow users to save time during execution without having to connect them directly into host computers. Additionally, they provide more accurate measurement than traditional techniques such as PCI Express® and Fibre Channel Protocol Buffet. Overall, this innovation improves overall performance and reduces costly software maintenance efforts.

Problems solved by technology

This patents discusses two main technical problem addressed by this patented study: Firstly, due to their complexity and expensive equipment required during evaluating disk arrays' performances after they were initially installed into computer systems, these tests may only provide an indication about how well each component works with certain standards. However, current methods involve performing full load simulations where servers consume too much power without being able to measure actual server performance levels accurately enough. Additionally, existing methodologies like postmark, iOmeter also lack flexibility when trying to compare multiple components from different sources.

Embodiment 2

[0046] The disk performance test system based on the Linux distributed system described in this embodiment, on the basis of embodiment 1, based on a Linux distributed system, installs the test program DAMeter on its test control server to form the DAMeter control end, and at its test node Install the test program IOmaker on it to form the IOmaker load end; the DAMeter control end is responsible for selecting test nodes, configuring test parameters, sending test commands, collecting and sorting the performance results of test nodes, and responsible for communicating with the load generator IOmaker.

[0047] DAMeter control terminal, configuring test parameters mainly refers to: setting the number of segments used during the test and the start disk area; setting the number of simultaneous input and output of each disk; setting a network worker to send a VI target to the maximum value waiting for confirmation ;Set the number of test iterations; set the transfer request "size" of t...

Embodiment 3

[0049] The disk performance test system based on Linux distributed system described in this embodiment, on the basis of embodiment 2, based on a Linux distributed system, adopts test tool DAMeter, installs test program DAMeter on its test control server to form DAMeter control end , install the test program IOmaker on the test node to form the IOmaker load end; meanwhile, the IOmaker load end communicates with the disk array to be tested.

Abstract

The invention discloses a Linux distributed system-based disk performance test system and method, and relates to a disk array performance test technology. A test program DAMeter is installed in a testcontrol server of a Linux distributed system to form a DAMeter control end; the DAMeter control end is in charge of selecting test nodes, configuring test parameters, sending a test command and collecting and sorting performance results of the test nodes, and is in charge of communicating with an IOmaker load end; the test nodes are connected with a to-be-tested disk array; a test program IOmakeris installed in the test nodes to form the IOmaker load end; and the IOmaker load end is in charge of receiving an instruction of the control end, executing corresponding operation and feeding back atest result to the DAMeter control end. By adopting a test tool DAMeter, the deficiencies of an existing test method are made up for; various test demands of disk array performance are met; the testcost is reduced; and the test efficiency is improved.
