Problems solved by technology

Also, the transportation / availability of lithium batteries may be difficult in some regions / countries due to regulatory constraints
In order to replace the battery, the metering seal may be required to be broken, as it may normally be placed inside the unit, which may result in additional overhead and cost if the replacement does not coincide with the calibration cycle
In certain geographic areas, special procedures may need to be followed for the replacement of these batteries, which can also increase maintenance time and expense

Abstract

A non-contact power transfer system and method for use in industrial and hazardous environments. In one example embodiment, a power pack can contain one or more power sources and one or more coils. Awireless power transmitting system is associated with an EVC. The wireless power transmitting system can be connected to the coil(s) and also maintained by the power pack. Power is transferrable in anon-contact manner from the wireless power transmitting system to a wireless power receiver system to provide power to the power source. This approach can be utilized for non-contact power transfer toindustrial products such as EVCs. A primary source of power or for recharging a built in battery can be achieved without having to physically access the battery.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments relate to electronic devices and systems utilized in industrial, explosive and other hazardous environments. Embodiments also relate to EVC (Electronic Volume Corrector) utilized in hazardous and industrial settings such as, for example, gas measurement systems. Embodiments also relate to the use of contactless power delivery for EVCs in hazardous locations such as industrial and explosive areas. Background technique [0002] Oil and gas industry products, like many other electronic products, utilize a wide variety of electrical and electromechanical machines and products, many of which are installed in hazardous locations including explosive atmosphere environments. A potentially explosive atmosphere exists when a mixture of air gas (airgas), vapour, mist or dust combines in such a way that it can burn under certain operating conditions. Intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres with equipment and protective systems (eg ATEX / ...
