example 750

[0058] Referring to example 750 for 802.11a operation, a non-limiting example signal spectrum 760 is compared to a transmit spectrum template 755 . In example 750, different target attenuation values 770, 772, 774 of template 755 of -20dBc, -28dBc, and -40dBc are mapped to different frequency values. As a non-limiting example, notches may be determined for the target OOB spectrum at +20MHz and -20MHz offsets (indicated by 780, 785) from the carrier frequency fc.

[0059] In some embodiments, one or more target notch frequencies and / or other characteristics used for a device's target OOB emission spectrum may be based on one or more factors, including, but not limited to, proximity to and / or proximity to the device's operating Long Term Evolution (LTE) channels in frequency ranges; Wi-Fi channels in frequency ranges near and / or adjacent to the device; frequency ranges in which Bluetooth (BT) can operate near and / or adjacent to the device and / or frequency ranges that may make...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for reducing peak-to-average power ratio based on a target out-of-band emission spectrum. Embodiments of radio circuitry are generally described herein. The radio circuitry may comprise circuitry for generating the output baseband signal to reduce one or more local peak power levels of the input baseband signal. The output signal may be based on the difference between the input baseband signal and the excess signal. The radio circuit arrangement may further comprise a hard limiter circuit for limiting the power level of the input baseband signal to a clipping range to generate a clipped signal. The radio circuitry may also include one or more filters for filtering the predicted OOB transmission signal according to the target OOB transmission spectrum. The predicted OOB transmit signal may be based on the difference between the input baseband signal and the clipped signal.

Description

technical field [0001] Some embodiments relate to the reduction of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Some embodiments involve out-of-band (OOB) transmissions. Some embodiments relate to wireless devices, including wireless devices configured to operate in a wireless local area network (WLAN). Some embodiments involve notch filtering. Background technique [0002] A communication device may exchange various signals, such as data signals, control signals or other signals, with other devices. As an example, a baseband signal may be input to a power amplifier before being upconverted to a radio frequency (RF) range for transmission. An RF channel or frequency band may be used for transmission of the upconverted signal. In some cases, this transmission may cause splatter in adjacent frequency bands. Such splashing can be problematic for any number of reasons. As an example, splash can adversely affect devices operating in adjacent frequency bands. As another example, rul...
