Abstract

The invention discloses an escalator safety device and an escalator. A first trigger element is arranged above steps of a horizontal portion of an escalator body; when the steps jump up or are raised,the first trigger element is directly triggered such that the first trigger element generates an electrical signal, and a control loop in electrical connection with the first trigger element controlsthe escalator body to stop according to the electrical signal. It is not required that steps jump up or are raised to raise a comb plate and trigger a comb plate safety switch so as to stop an escalator. The first trigger element provided herein can timely sense that steps jump up or are raised, and responding to the situation follows; therefore, safety and reliability of the escalator are improved.
