Problems solved by technology

Many state-of-the-art ventilators are capable of providing shelter from eg rain and birds while providing high flow with relatively low noise, but have disadvantages
[0003] For example, louvered vents are simple and offer some protection from rain, but they are often noisy and they are not particularly rainproof by any standard

Embodiment Construction

[0059] The present invention will be described below based on specific embodiments and with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0060] figure 2 A ventilation device 200 according to one embodiment of the invention is shown. It comprises a frame 201 with an inner perimeter 202 . The blades 203a, 203b, 203c, 204a, 204b, 204c are attached to the frame 201 at respective attachment points. In this view, it can be seen that the blades 204a, 204b, 204c are attached at respective points 207a, 207b, and 207c. The aerator also has a cover flange 210 for engaging a wall or similar surface to provide a tighter fit of the aerator to the surface. The aerator also has a drain 212 for draining water that runs to the bottom of the aerator.

[0061] Each vane in the aerator in this embodiment consists of two elements. A vane consists of a vane element 203a and a vane element 204a meeting at the horizontal midpoint of the aerator. Likewise, the blade below it consists of blade eleme...

Abstract

The present invention provides a rain-resistant vent. The vent comprises a support frame having an inner perimeter; a set of blades arranged in an array, a first end of each blade being attached to acorresponding first part of the frame, a second end of each blade being attached to a corresponding second part of the frame, a first substantially flat portion forming an initial part of a cross-section of each blade, and the first substantially flat portion is followed by a ridge or valley portion, and at the first end of each blade the first substantially flat portion is at least partly separated from the inner perimeter by an opening allowing water to drain from the first substantially flat portion onto the inner perimeter. A vent assembly is also provided.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to ventilation devices. Background technique [0002] Passive ventilation is a common method of replacing stale air with fresh air. Many state-of-the-art ventilation devices are capable of providing shelter from eg rain and birds while providing high flow with relatively low noise, but have drawbacks. [0003] For example, louvered vents are simple and offer some protection from rain, but they are often noisy and they are not particularly rainproof by any standard. Contents of the invention [0004] In a first aspect, the present invention provides a ventilation device comprising: [0005] a support frame with an inner perimeter, [0006] a set of vanes arranged in an array, each vane having a first end attached to a respective first portion of the frame and a second end of each vane attached to a respective second portion of the frame, the first substantially flat portion forming each the beginning of the cross-sect...
