The invention provides a method for detecting the service life characteristic of an intelligent electric meter. The method comprises the following steps of firstly, establishing a first electric meterreliability prediction model according to a component stress method; meanwhile, establishing a second electric meter reliability prediction model according to on-site historical data of the intelligent electric meter; obtaining a reliable life model of the intelligent electric meter through the first intelligent electric meter reliability prediction model and the second intelligent electric meterreliability prediction model so as to obtain the reliability prediction result of the intelligent electric meter; then, establishing a multi-stress degradation model and establishing a mathematical relationship between the stress factor and the service life characteristic of the intelligent electric meter; and finally, taking the reliability prediction result and the service life prediction result as evaluation indexes and carrying out service life analysis on the deviation of metering errors within the service life period of the intelligent electric meter so as to obtain the service life characteristic of the intelligent electric meter.
