AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

The technical effect that this technology allows clients on an operating system (OS) hosted within one or more servers to locate objects quickly without having them relocated when they are needed again. This reduces downtime during installation and maintainations.

Problems solved by technology

This patents describes an issue where large amounts of data may require more memory capacity due to increased demand on disk drive devices or other computer systems. To overcome these issues, it suggests storing smaller groups of related files together instead of individually accessing them separately by defaulting certain attributes like file names based upon their location within the group's own hierarchy. Additionally, there have been proposals involving setting specifications for how clients should retrieve relevant content from different servers depending on its desired destination without having to directly search over all possible configurations provided by the underlying operating system itself.

Embodiment Construction

[0080] see first figure 1 , figure 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a storage system according to an embodiment of the present invention, such as figure 1 As shown, the storage system in this embodiment of the present invention includes a client and an OSD cluster.

[0081] For example, the number of clients can be multiple, such as figure 1 As shown, the clients include clients 101, 102...n, and in other examples, the number of clients may be one, which is not limited in this embodiment of the present invention.

[0082] The OSD cluster 20 includes an interface (not shown) and multiple OSDs, each OSD corresponds to a fixed size storage space of a physical disk, and the OSD cluster 20 divides the storage space of the physical disk into multiple OSDs to store data.

[0083] The OSD cluster 20 includes MDS. Each OSD of the OSD is assigned a key correspondingly. The MDS records the correspondence between the key and the storage space. Specific storage space for a specif...

Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention disclose an object-based distributed index method, and a client. The method comprises that: the client obtains content and names of to-be-stored objects; the client performs normalization processing on the names of the to-be-stored objects to obtain a first normalization result; the client obtains the key of the idle OSD in the OSD cluster through the interface, and stores the first normalization result, the names, the content, and the key of the idle OSD into the idle OSD through the interface, so as to generate a new node; through the interface, the client queries that the distributed index is stored with a back node of a second normalization result which is greater than the first normalization result and a front node of a third normalization result which is smaller than the first normalization result; and the client constructs a pointer in the new node, sets the pointer of the new node to the key of the back node, and sets the pointer of the front node to the key of the new node. According to the embodiments of the present invention, the keys of the objects are scattered in the distributed index by using the pointer, and by querying the distributed index to locate the objects, the difficulty of deployment and maintenance can be reduced.
