Embodiment Construction

[0009] In a first aspect, the invention provides a waste treatment unit comprising:

[0010] a waste containment providing an enclosed space and arranged to receive waste components from a waste conduit, the waste containment including a drain;

[0011] a rotatable container disposed within the waste receptacle, the rotatable container having a base, a side wall, and an opening above the base, wherein the rotatable container is arranged to eject liquid from the opening during rotation; and

[0012] A first liquid supply element configured to supply liquid to the rotatable container.

[0013] The waste disposal unit of the present invention is adapted to receive, treat and remove waste efficiently and importantly has a self-cleaning function, which enables maintaining a high standard of hygiene during use. Self-cleaning is achieved in part by a rotatable container disposed within the waste receptacle. In use, the container is at least partially filled with liquid, and may be ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a waste disposal unit having a self-clean function which enables a high standard of hygiene to be maintained during use. Self-cleaning is, in part, achieved by a rotatable vessel (108) disposed within the waste receptacle. In use, the vessel is at least partially filled with liquid and may be completely filled or partially overflowing when rotation of the vessel begins. The vessel comprises an opening (108a) above its base. When the vessel is rotated, liquid is ejected from the vessel via the opening by centrifugal force. The vessel is positioned within the waste receptacle such that the ejected liquid rinses one or more internal surfaces of the waste receptacle.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to a waste disposal unit and a beverage dispenser comprising the waste disposal unit. Background technique [0002] Existing beverage dispensers employ various methods to dispose of liquid and solid waste. Some beverage dispensers include a waste disposal unit for receiving beverage waste components and liquid waste. A waste disposal unit typically includes: a waste containment, which receives waste; an outlet or flush port; and a pump, which is used to draw waste out of the machine. [0003] Existing waste treatment units suffer from various problems. One of the problems is that the interior of the waste disposal unit is difficult to keep clean and over time, for example, becomes covered with waste such as solid waste particles such as used coffee grounds. This is a particular problem where solid waste, such as coffee cubes, ie compressed used coffee grounds, is dispensed from a certain height into the liquid waste receptacle, as this causes a s...
